Born in Dundee, Mike now lives and works in a tiny East Perthshire hamlet in what was a former mill and blacksmith’s workshop, and is now a beautiful home.
Graduating from Edinburgh University with a B.Sc (Agriculture), he then farmed in the Carse of Gowrie area between Perth and Dundee for 35 years, managing predominantly arable crops with additional enterprises such as poultry, cattle, pigs and sheep. Mike was also involved in managing farms in Aberdeenshire and Berwickshire.
Mike decided to have a change of direction, and after a rigorous two year course based at Edinburgh University, he qualified for the coveted Blue Badge in 2001 and became a member of the Scottish Tourist Guides Association. In 2005, after further intensive training, Mike became a Guide for the award winning new Scottish Parliament building in Edinburgh.
Mike is a keen sailor and a qualified Instructor and Skipper. He has sailed in Australian, French, Swedish, Norwegian, Irish and English waters, but his favourite cruising ground is the magnificent West Coast of Scotland, where there are over 700 islands to explore.
As an enthusiastic worldwide traveller, Mike is sensitive to his clients’ travel needs when they visit Scotland. Few countries in the world have more diverse and extraordinary landscapes than Scotland: rocky islands, rugged mountains and breathtaking glens are all part of the unique experience awaiting the visitor. It may be a small country, but you will be amazed at the variety that Scotland has to offer. Mike loves to share Scotland’s proud heritage!
“To share my enthusiasm for Scotland with you, my client, so that it leaves an indelible memory of a wonderful experience”.
“To provide excellent value for money – not down to a price but up to a top standard”.
“To pull out all the stops to exceed your expectations”.
“To live up to Scotland’s great reputation for the finest hospitality”.
A warm Scottish Welcome awaits you!
